Automation Clip

For this project we had to design a loop using an automation clip to change volume of a sound. The first thing i did was chose a sound from sytrus, (marimba with no effects) and chopped it until i found the beat i was looking for. I then chose another sound from sytrus (chromatic-syncotronic), chopped and modified it to over lay the marimba beat. I used delay and reverb on my chromatic-syncotronic sound. Then I added a bass line using the boobass and a FPC drum beat to accompany the marimba loop. I used an automation clip on the marimba to change the volmue (to make it louder mostly) and used the X and Y contollers for the chromatic-syncotronic sound. I linked the X controller with the Cutoff Envolope and the Y controller with the Cutoff Frequency. I liked the way the sound changed as I moved the controller around so I recorded and applyed it. I used "stair waves" to change the volume on the chromatic-syncotronic sound also.

Project 6 Sytrus

For this project we had to create our own sounds. I used the Sytrus channel to make all 3 sounds. The first sound you hear is my defualt 1 sound (square wave with delay) overlaying my Defualt 3 sound (saw wave with delay). The first thing i did was put the sound into the piano role and chop it to Gospel Trance 3, this created an interesting rythym so i kept it. Then i added an FPC beat and used boobass for the bass beat. I also added a drum role using the defualt snare drum to build up to the FPC .As you get into the 9th measure, my Defualt 2 sound comes in (sign wave with delay) as a filler sound. I made it so the sound popped in at different times. And at the end i used an automation clip on the Defaly 1 sound to fade it out and end the loop. I think the hardest part of making this loop was creating a bass line to fit the "Gospel Trance 3" rythym because of the mixture of high and low notes playing opposite each other. So I decided to just stick with the lower notes to make a steady beat for the loop, it made things a lot less complicated and it sounded better than using high bass notes.

For this project I created a guitar loop with a crash cymbol and a kick drum to accompany the guitar beats. I chopped the guitar loop, arranged it accordingly and added the WahWah from FL Slayer. I also used the boobass to create the bassline that went along with the guitar line.I then added a hand clap, a snare drum and added reverb and delay to both of them. As you get to the final two verses I used reverb and chorus on the guitar part and switched up the beats to get an ending verse before the final clap.
For this project I wanted to have a "lead" guitar part with the traditional drum and bass as back up because i wasnt going for any strange or out of ordanary sounds. Although is made it harder for me to pick and effect because i needed a "normal" sounding effect

chopped/transposed file

For this loop I first picked out a guitar sound from the FL Slayer channel and then chopped it. I did not want a bunch of short/quick beats or a lot of long notes so i chopped it until there where a few short notes followed by longer ones. Then i moved around a few notes to were it seemed fitting to get the beat i was looking for, which you hear throughout most of the song. I then chose a FPC file, added boo-bass and another Slayer channel to accompany my chopped layer. I also transposed this layer to mix up the sounds. For the next pattern that your hear, I chose another FPC file that was similiar to the first one I chose and added another Slayer channel for a different beat (I transposed this as well). I tryed to use just a few sounds (FPC, Slayer and boo-bass) but with differnt patterns and tones to create a sort of dark but laid back song, not to menacing or "happy/cheerfull.

For this loop I had to create a base line for different FPC files. I used break-beats (FPC file) to create a unique sound. The bass line is heavy to make it sound darker as opposed to using a higher pitched bass. I also used cymbals alot through the whole loop. I wasn't looking for any sound in particular so i randomly picked the break-beat loops and then I just added the bass lines to them to make them work together.

I started making this drum loop by changing the default sounds. I changed kick drum first because i wanted it to sound to make the beat steady and not as noticeable as some of the other sounds. I wanted the focus of the loop to be on the Hi-Hats. I was going for kind of a "normal" drum beat because i didnt make the loop too busy so its almost basic drums with the addition of the Hi-Hats.
