I started making this drum loop by changing the default sounds. I changed kick drum first because i wanted it to sound to make the beat steady and not as noticeable as some of the other sounds. I wanted the focus of the loop to be on the Hi-Hats. I was going for kind of a "normal" drum beat because i didnt make the loop too busy so its almost basic drums with the addition of the Hi-Hats.

  1. I like the simplicity of it as you stated in your post, but I'm not crazy about the tom toms. They tend to ring too much and distract the listener from what the bass and snare drum are doing- which isn't a bad thing in the case of a fill- only this wasn't a fill, it was your main pattern. The panning was also a bit too extreme. The tom tom was very loud in my left headphone, and there was nothing (except a quite hi-hat) in the right. Use panning in small doses.
